Gund Arena
Cleveland, OH
September 8, 2002
The stars of Smackdown have made their way to Cleveland for this special Sunday house show at the Gund Arena. The main event of Unforgiven is set with Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Championship against The Undertaker. Let's see how the rest of the roster plays out in the circuit.
Match 1
Rikishi vs Kurt Angle in a Kiss My Ass Match
Same match as all week only this time we get a real result. Rikishi looked to have won it with the banzai drop but Angle held onto the rope. When the match was restarted, Angle rolled up Rikishi for the pin.
Winner: Angle by pinfall
Match 2
Rico vs Hardcore Holly
The martial arts expert Rico takes on the grumpy veteran Holly in this one. Holly wins with the Alabama Slam.
Winner: Holly by pinfall
Match 3
The Hurricane and Shannon Moore vs Billy & Chuck
3 Count vs the Natural Born Thrillaz.....just kidding. If Sean O'Haire replaced Billy Gunn, that would have been accurate. Palumbo hit the superkick on Hurricane and Gunn got the pin to win.
Winners: Billy & Chuck by pinfall
Match 4
Batista vs D'Von Dudley
Same match from Smackdown with the same result. Batista wins with the powerbomb.
Winner: Batista by pinfall
Match 5
The Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship
Same match as last week with the same result, Taker gets caught with using the chair. This could be the ending to the ppv coming up and they're practicing on the house shows.
Winner: Lesnar by DQ (still WWE Champion)
Match 6
Matt Hardy vs Randy Orton
Mattitude takes on the rookie in this one. Orton reversed the twist of fate into a backslide for the pin.
Winner: Orton by pinfall
Match 7
Mark Henry, John Cena and Horace Hogan vs Bull Buchanan, Tajiri and Chavo Guerrero Jr
Talk about a hodge podge. Henry and Cena had been on Velocity against the likes of Chavo but Horace Hogan? Tajiri pinned Hogan with the buzz-kick.
Winners: Tajiri, Chavo and Buchanan by pinfall
Match 8
Billy Kidman vs Jamie Noble for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Kidman gets a title shot tonight against Noble. Noble wins after hitting Kidman with the title belt.
Winner: Noble by pinfall (still Cruiserweight Champion)
Match 9
Edge & Rey Mysterio Jr vs Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit
The main event is once again a tag match between Edge and Rey against Eddie and Chris. Edge hit the spear on Eddie Guerrero to get the pin.
Winners: Edge and Mysterio by pinfall
Damn good card even if it was a repeat of last week a bit. These could be the endings of ppv matches coming up so they're using the house show circuit for a trial run. Still, apart from Taker and Lesnar, nothing else is locked in with the ppv a few weeks away. Hopefully that changes on TV this coming week. Speaking of television, this week's Sunday Night Heat is up next. I'll see you there.
